3-Day Tanzania Safari To Mikumi & Udzungwa Tour

Trip Overview

Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Tanzania offers a remarkable safari experience. Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and diverse birdlife, particularly during the dry season when animals gather around the Tarangire River. Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a natural amphitheater harboring a stunning array of wildlife, including the densest predator population in Africa. Its unique landscape provides a chance to see the “Big Five” in a single day against the backdrop of the crater’s walls, making it a must-visit destination for wildlife enthusiasts.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam and Drive to Mikumi National Park

Your adventure begins when you arrive at Dar es Salaam. Your guide will meet you and take you on a 4-hour drive to Mikumi National Park, one of Tanzania’s best-known parks. Mikumi is home to lots of animals, like elephants, lions, giraffes, and zebras. After you check in at your lodge, you’ll go on your first game drive through the park. You might even see a lion resting in the sun or a group of wildebeests moving across the plains. After the game drive, you’ll go back to the lodge for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Today, you will spend the whole day in Mikumi National Park. You will start early in the morning, going on a morning game drive when animals are most active. The park has a variety of wildlife, so you might see lions, buffaloes, impalas, giraffes, and maybe even a leopard. You will also have a chance to see beautiful birds and enjoy the amazing scenery of the park. After a tasty picnic lunch in the park, you’ll go on an afternoon game drive to see more animals. When the day ends, you’ll return to your lodge to relax and enjoy a nice dinner.

After breakfast, you’ll drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park, which is about a 2-hour drive from Mikumi. Udzungwa is very different from Mikumi. It’s known for its beautiful mountains and rainforests. The park is home to many monkeys, like the Red Colobus monkey, and beautiful waterfalls. You’ll go on a nature walk to see the stunning views, and if you’re lucky, you might spot some rare animals and birds. After lunch, you will drive back to Dar es Salaam in the afternoon (about 5-6 hours), where your safari adventure will end. You can catch your flight or continue your travels.
